What is a bond?
A bond is a refundable deposit in USDC on Base. A sender posts it before a message is delivered. It is not a fee.
What happens to it?
If the recipient engages or ignores the message, the sender is refunded in full. If the recipient flags the message as spam or abuse, the bond pays the recipient and the protocol.
Why a bond and not a fee?
Honest senders should not pay. A bond only costs senders who abuse attention.

Planned design. Under evaluation, not final.
Settlement

Proof tooling (under evaluation)
Reusing ZK Email-style DKIM proofs, with Noir and the Barretenberg backend.
